The Gresham Salvation Army Brass Band is the local brass band of The Gresham Corps Salvation Army and was founded in 2021. We are a traditional British style brass band consisting of musicians from the Portland metro area, all of whom donate their musicality to directly benefit the Gresham Music Academy youth music programs.
Our purpose aligns with The Salvation Army’s mission: "to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination." Through our musical contributions, we strengthen the spiritual atmosphere of corps programs and outreach events.
Through music, we aim to reach hearts where words sometimes can’t. Using our instruments to uplift communities, and support the broader mission of The Salvation Army — to meet human needs without discrimination.

Provide a hand up to impoverished East Portland families through compassion and education
Our members participate in several other music groups around the area. Here are some (but not necessarily all!) of the other groups that Gresham Salvation Army Brass Band musicians perform with.
The Salvation Army is stepping in and providing the music and arts programs that many schools can no longer afford. From children's choirs to music lessons, poetry to painting, drama to dance, after-school lessons, these activities introduce kids to the beauties of the fine arts.
The East Metro Community Music Association is an arts nonprofit serving the Gresham and East Portland areas. EMCMA fields a marching band, color guard, drumline, and concert band that are open to everyone 14 and up. As we continue to grow and make new connections, we hope to add more ensembles and provide skilled volunteer support to school music programs.
As of 2019, Encore Brass has grown to a dynamic group of 15-20 musicians united under the baton of the of award-winning composer, conductor, and trumpet player, Giancarlo Castro D’Addona.

The Portland Wind Symphony was founded as the Pacific Crest Wind Ensemble by Dr. Daniel Cole as part of Marylhurst University in 1988. It is patterned after the Eastman Wind Ensemble’s performance model which utilizes a smaller ensemble and generates an overall sound that is tighter and dependent on the individual musicianship of its members.
Rose City Trombones is a Portland's premier professional trombone choir since 2011. Our ensemble can perform in formats as small as 3 players, up to 16. We perform a wide range of music including classical, jazz, pops, movie themes and more.
Today, Solid Brass is a large brass ensemble with 8 trumpets, 5 horns, 4 trombones, one baritone, one euphonium, and 2 tubas. We are fortunate to have the flexibility to perform large brass ensemble pieces, British Brass Band pieces, and even those little brass quintets.
The Gresham Salvation Army Brass Band isn't just a musical group — it’s a cornerstone of the Gresham community, blending music with ministry, outreach, and education in a way that stands out.
